Cross Cultural Solidarity is home to the White Antiracist Ancestry Project… a project that uses the lessons from White antiracist history to mobilize White people for racial justice today.
Since the project’s launch in 2021, workshops on lessons from the life of Anne Braden – one of the greatest White antiracists in U.S. history – have been offered to dozens of White antiracist organizations around the country. Numerous talks, and even some sermons, have been offered. Special gatherings to be in conversation with White antiracist movement elders – including a 91st birthday celebration for George Hrbek! – have been hosted. And in January of 2023, a monthlong workshop series on White antiracist spirituality in U.S. history pulled together a rich community of nearly 100 participants from across the country. Numerous new workshops are also in the works, ranging from learning from the lessons of poor and working-class White antiracist history, to a series on learning from the White antiracist organizing in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and how those folks shifted their organizing after SNCC became an all-Black organization.
